Boone County 4-H Fair Livestock Auction started with a special fundraising effort. A pig, donated by Kevin Prickett, was auctioned off specifically to raise money for the “Live Like Syd” Fund, which honors former 4-Her and Western Boone High School student Sydney Foster, who died in March from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

A group of 12 bidders got together and paid $1,450 for the pig, but after the bidding ended, Auctioneer Steve Cross gave people a chance to boost the pot and donate to the fund.
In the end $3,800 was raised. More details in the Lebanon Reporter.
