In his initial court appearance, Dr. Jonathon W. Cavins learned that, if convicted, he is facing up to 30 years in prison. Cavins, 41, is accused of child molestation, vicarious sexual gratification, and two counts of sexual misconduct involving his work as a pediatrician.
Cavins’ bond was set at $100,000 and a trial date was set for July 8 in Boone Circuit Court. Each count also carries a fine of up to $10,000 each.
Last week, Cavins was arrested when a 12-year-old boy accused him of fondling his genitals during a routine physical. Over the weekend, Lebanon Police detectives interviewed two more boys who came forward with similar stories about Cavins. Those complaining witnesses were 15 and 14 years old when the doctor examined them at Witham Health Services Pediatrics suite. More details in the Lebanon Reporter.
