Mrs. Betty Hoffman Smith born February 10, 1929, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021. She was married to Leroy E. Smith from 1947 to 1965 and is survived by three children, Gary L (Lana) Smith, Connie Smith (Les) McDowell and Daniel P (Robin) Smith. She had eight grandchildren, Kristi Smith Huff, Traci Smith Saunders, Eric Smith, Evan Smith, Alissa Smith Hayes, Adam Smith, Jared McDowell, and Alex Smith. She had 24 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Betty was raised on a farm in Boone County. Her parents were George and Pauline Hoffman and she had one sister, Darlene Hoffman Wade.
Betty was later married to Richard Winters for 19 years, who passed away, and then to John Robert Smith who passed away in 2007.
She enjoyed a lifetime of music learning to play Hawaiian guitar at age 11. She joined a band at age 14 called Rodeo Ramblers, playing all thru high school at rodeos and other events. She was lead singer along with best friend, Marjorie Crawford. She also yodelled and played guitar.
The joy of knowing Jesus Christ as her personal savior and honoring Him with all her heart, soul and mind was what was most important to Betty. She loved to pray for family, friends and leaders and ask God to keep her of sound mind so she’d never forget Him.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street in Lebanon.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home in Lebanon. Interment will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
