Betty Ann Varvel, 76, passed away peacefully at home in Lebanon, Indiana on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. She was born in St. Joseph, Illinois, on June 6, 1945, a daughter of the late Calvin Daniel and Betty Rokos (Shepherd) Varvel.
She attended Champaign High School and Lebanon High School. Betty was married to Fred Allen Culley; he passed away in 1998.
Betty was a taxicab driver for many years. She also worked at Sparkle Kleen Laundromat and was a bookkeeper/secretary for New Augusta Auto.
She was a member of the American Legion, Eagles and Moose Lodge all of Lebanon and the Miami Indian Nation Tribe. She enjoyed working on her computer, being with family and visiting friends at the Lebanon Eagles. Her memory will be cherished by a loving family and many friends.
Survivors include her children: Lana (Carl) Maxwell of Thorntown, Gail Culley of Lebanon, Dan (Mary) Culley of Lebanon, Sam Culley of Hazel Green, Alabama; 14 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; brothers, Dana (Ellen) Witte of Thorntown, Carl (Carma) Rokos of Brentwood, Tennessee; sisters, Sharon Roberts of Katy, Texas, Sandra Taylor of Ontario, Ohio, Nancy Morris of Lebanon, Andrea Sayles of Lebanon, Carla (Russell) Bowman of Lebanon, Tammy (Gene) Rokos-Harrison of Mesick, Michigan, Patti (Gary) Carico of Pasadena, Texas; many nieces and nephews and Princess, her beloved four-legged friend.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Culley; sister, Karen Hughes; brother, Raymond Pheris; grandson Michael Culley; stepmother, Juanita Varvel.
Funeral Services are planned for Monday, February 21, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home in Lebanon. Interment will follow services at Sugar Plain Cemetery in Thorntown, Indiana.
