The City of Frankfort was notified Thursday that they will receive $125,000 over three years to fund a new police officer position. The grant requires a local match of 25%. The City of Frankfort will release more information at a later time but the following is from the Department of Justice:The COPS Hiring Program (CHP) is designed to reduce crime and advance public safety through community policing by
providing direct support to state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies nationwide. CHP funding supports the hiring
of career law enforcement officers to increase an agency’s community policing capacity and crime prevention efforts.
