Doris Jean (Hale) Metzger, 89, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Jean was born in 1935 to Leonard and Demie Hale.
She married Nicholas Metzger, Jr. on May 9, 1954, and together they had 4 children.
Jean was a hard worker all of her life, working on the farm, raising a family, planting a huge vegetable and flower garden each year. She was also a seamstress who was always happy to help with prom, spring dance dresses, letter jackets, etc. She also made the best doughnuts and rice pudding that you’ve ever had! She was everything to everyone.
She loved to do things outside. She enjoyed fishing, picking berries for her delicious cobblers and jams, and bird watching. She loved gardening and mushroom hunting. She taught children, grandchildren, and even the neighbors’ children while helping them all with bug and leaf collections, or anything she was doing. If she was doing it, you were too, and you were going to learn! She loved playing cards and board games. Lots of laughter and food were always sure to be found at family gatherings.
Jean did it all, and was everything to her family, they loved her endlessly. She will be missed beyond words.
