In a packed banquet room at Arborwood by Shoup’s, formerly the Frankfort Country Club, two term Frankfort Mayor Chris McBarnes, flanked by his wife Samantha McBarnes and key campaign associates, announced he is running for a third term for mayor.

McBarnes is already the youngest elected mayor in the city’s history taking office at 23 years old as he graduated Butler University. If re-elected to a third term he would also be Frankfort’s first three term mayor in the Gem City’s history.

McBanes campaign manager John Milholland touted McBarnes success which included the Maish Road project, road projects throughout the city (including State Road 28), Ivy Tech’s new campus downtown, a new downtown park in the works, privately funded projects  and the Iron Men Properties Nickel Plate Flats luxury apartments which now occupy the corner of Washington and Jackson dowtown Frankfort.

The Mayor vowed to continue Frankfort’s path of success paved over the past eight years and boasted a 2 million dollar plus budget surplus in the city’s treasury.

McBarnes warned his team to not be complacent in the face of their previous successes and vowed to campaign door to door just as he had to win his first term 8 years ago.
