A Senate bill to establish a bobcat hunting season has become law. Governor Eric Holcomb signed the measure Monday that will force the state Department of Natural Services to establish a bobcat hunting season by July 1st of next year. The measure passed through both chambers despite pushback. Bobcats were endangered in Indiana until about 20 years ago and opponents say the animal’s population hasn’t recovered enough yet to be hunted. A major point of contention during debate was the lack of accurate data on the bobcat population.
