Herbert Matthew “Matt” Hoover, 60, of Lebanon, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on May 7, 1962 in Whitestown, Indiana, a son of Mary Jane (Gamble) Winchester and the late Jerold E. Hoover.
On June 4, 2005, he married Ramona G. (West) Hoover. She preceded him in death on August 15, 2022.
Matt was born with cerebral palsy which affected his right hand. He learned to do everything with one hand. His brothers and sisters wouldn’t let him be handicapped. He rode horses, three-wheel bikes, drove his Blazer, mowed yards for people, and built model cars. He faithfully took care of his wife the last year of her life. Matt and his family were thankful for Retain It Landscaping for buying a handicapped van so he could go where he enjoyed.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Jane Winchester of Whitestown; three brothers, Jerold “Jay” (Janet) Hoover of Lebanon, Robert Joseph (Amy) Hoover of Whitestown, and Jeremy (Lori) Hoover of Whitestown; two sisters, Karen (Bill) Denning of Zionsville and Sarah Beth (Greg) Dafler of Whitestown; three stepchildren, Donnie (Amy) Chupp of Sidney, Ohio, Amanda Chupp and Stacie Hall of Lebanon, and several grandchildren.
In addition to his father and wife, Matt was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Jane Ping.
Graveside Funeral Services are planned for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Mts. Runn Cemetery in Zionsville. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon.
