James Edward Cox, 88, of Lafayette, Indiana entered his earthly journey to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ on December 15, 2021 at Mulberry Health in Mulberry, Indiana. He was born in Barren County of Glasgow, Kentucky on August 8, 1933 to the late James Henry and Ruby (Smith) Cox.

Jim fought a courageous battle with cancer and Alzheimer’s with his wife and family always by his side. On November 25, 1972, he married the love of his life, Judy (Sheets) of Lebanon, Indiana.

Jim retired from Alcoa in 1983 after 32 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed fishing, boating and camping. He also loved cookouts with friends and family and attending country music festivals. Jim and his wife loved to travel and vacationed in most of the 50 states in the U.S. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, humor, kindness, five beautiful daughters and their families.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Cox of Lafayette, Indiana; five daughters, Connie (Mike) Gates of Darlington, Indiana, Cathy (Ed) Hall of West Lafayette, Indiana, Cindy Cox of Lafayette, Indiana, Carla (Jerry) Chitwood of Homosassa, Florida, Dee Ann (Robert) Mulvey of Lafayette, Indiana; fourteen grandchildren; eight great grandsons; one great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews who adored him.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a grandson, Lloyd Gates.

Visitation is planned for Monday, December 20, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 21 at the funeral home in Lebanon. Streaming of the service can be viewed on the Myers Mortuary Facebook page at the time of service. Interment will follow services at Romney Cemetery in Romney, Indiana.
