James Richard “Tubby” Washburn, 76, formerly of Lebanon, passed away Wednesday evening, November 11, 2020, at his home in North Vernon, Indiana. He was born December 30, 1943 in Beech Grove, Indiana, a son of the late Herbert Washburn and Juanita (Eskridge) Fairfield.
He was married to Deborah M. Bishop. They divorced but remained good friends.
Jim worked as the ground’s supervisor for Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon for 20+ years. He loved his family and enjoyed sitting around visiting with friends.
Survivors include, former wife, Deborah M. Bishop of North Vernon; four children, James R. Washburn, Jr. of Indianapolis, Crystal (John) Bowen of Waynesville, Missouri, Aaron (Rebekah Darrough) Washburn of Lebanon, Adam Washburn of Lebanon; twelve grandchildren; several great grandchildren; brother, Alton “Tom” Fields of Lebanon; sisters, Carlena Williams of Thorntown, Elsie Fairfield of Thorntown, Linda (Rick) Frietzsche of Lebanon, Lois (Steve) Cole of Thorntown, and Rita Batton of Urbana, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a son, Travis Wayne Washburn; a brother, John H. Washburn; and two sisters, LaDonna Doran and Marjorie Morton.
Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, memorial services will be held in the Spring of 2021 at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon with burial of ashes to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
