James William “Jim” Edwards, 79, passed away peacefully at home in Pittsboro, Indiana, with his family by his side, on Friday, July 24, 2020. He was born September 11, 1940 in Lebanon, Indiana, to his wonderful parents, Max and Doris Louise (Linton) Edwards.

Jim attended Lebanon High School graduating with the class of 1958. He received a degree in aviation from Purdue University.

He was employed by Eli Lilly Aviation Department for 32 years, retiring in 2001. He was a dedicated employee who loved his job and was fortunate to be able to travel to many countries throughout his employment. His last trip was to Israel which was very special.

Jim married Eva J. (Farris) Cooney Edwards in 1992. They had spent years together on the golf course, shuffle courts and with friends dining, laughing, and sharing life, both in Sebring, Florida and in Indiana.

He is survived by his wife, Eva Edwards; sister, Janet (Jim) Holoubek; daughters, Kathy (David) Birge, Karrin Spencer, Kim Stuart, Michelle (Steve) Standeford, Lisa Batts, Mary Beth (Russ) Shoaf, and Delana (Ted) Bennington; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by three grandsons.

Memorial Services with Elk’s Rites will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana, with visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Boone County Crematory has been entrusted with his cremation arrangements.

Memorials in Jim’s memory may be directed to Life’s Journey Hospice or to the American Lung Association.
