John William Purdum, Jr. 75, passed away at his home Indianapolis, Indiana on Thursday morning, February 18, 2021. He was born in Columbus, Indiana on August 1, 1945, the son of the late John William and Martha Jean (McCorkle) Purdum.

He attended schools in Columbus, Indiana. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force.

On February 18,1989 he was married to Edith Paulette (Bougher) Purdum; she survives, and they shared 32 wonderful years together.

John was vice president of Mayflower Transit in Indianapolis and retired after 27 years of dedicated service. He was a devoted husband, loving father and amazing grandpa.

Survivors include his wife, Paulette Purdum of Indianapolis; son: “Retired Staff Sergeant U.S.M.C. Brent” and wife, Leslie of Virginia; three grandchildren; and one sister, Linda Guckenberger and husband, Jon of Florida

Services are pending. He will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
