Mr. John William Ridge, 78, known to family and friends as Bill, passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 30, 2021 at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon.  He was born June 1, 1943 to the late Ora J. Ridge and Dorotha E. (Isenhour) Ridge.

Bill graduated from Lebanon High School in 1962. He joined the U.S. Army after school and then joined the Army Reserves.  He retired in 1995 as a 1st Sgt. E8 after over 20 years.  He also worked for GM Allison Transmission for 30 years plus as a factory worker then a supervisor.

Bill was a member of the Lebanon Christian Church, Lebanon Eagles, American Legion, Chapter A2 GWRRA.

He loved riding his Goldwing and seeing the U.S. and part of Canada.  He also loved watching NASCAR and Notre Dame football and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife, Lucy Ridge; a son, Charles O. “Chip” (Cheri) Ridge; daughter, Traci L. (Kevin) Myers; four grandsons, Kevin Andrew Myers, Daniel Ryan (companion, Lyndsey Nance) Myers, Connor William (companion, Katlynn Leer) Ridge, and Carter Owen Ridge; and sisters Doris (Richard) Jones and Trudy (Chuck) Wyant.

Family and friends will gather Sunday, Dec. 5 for visitation from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.  Bill will be laid to rest at Lincoln Memory Gardens at 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 6. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Boone County Senior Services.
