DAR Good Citizen Audrey Knoper.

Audrey Knoper, daughter of Bryan Knoper and Michele Payne, is the 2021 Boone County DAR Good Citizen. She is a Western Boone High School senior.

The DAR Good Citizen program encourages and rewards qualities of good citizenship and is open to all high school seniors in public or private secondary schools.

The winning student must exhibit outstanding qualities of dependability, which includes cooperation, courtesy and consideration of others; leadership, which includes personality, self control and the ability to assume responsibility; and patriotism, which includes unselfish interest in family, school, community and nation.

A written essay accounts for 30% of the student’s score. Students do not know the subject about which they’ll write until it’s handed to them. They must then complete their essay within two hours without using outside resources. This year’s topic was Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It with a special emphasis on how the qualities of a good citizen help support our nation. Audry’s essay can be found at The Lebanon Reporter.
