Mrs. Laura Marzella Johnson, 83, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon, Indiana. She was born in Johnetta, Kentucky, on February 28, 1939, a daughter of Elmer Luther and Emily Ethel (Griffie) Hale.

On June 9, 1963, she was married to Leonard Lester Johnson in Lizton, Indiana. He passed away on January 25, 1996.

Marzella moved from Kentucky to Indiana in 1940. She lived in Lizton for 42 years prior to moving to Lebanon. She had worked for Hendricks County Sheriff Department as a dispatcher for 10 years. Prior to that, she had worked as a custodian for Tri-West High School and the Boone County Sheriff Department. Marzella retired to care for her mother.

Her hobbies included crocheting and needlework. She enjoyed the outdoors, working in her flower garden.

Survivors include, two children, Leisha A. (John) Christen of Ocala, Florida and Ronald W. (Leeann) Johnson of Lebanon; two stepchildren, Mickey Lester of Lizton and Larry Johnson of Texas; four grandchildren, Jacob D. Eads, Jamie C. Eads, Ashley C. Johnson, and Lindsey W. Johnson; step grandchildren, Collin Trent and Sadie Trent; fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie Miller of Richmond and Norma Kouns of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Marzella was preceded in death by three brothers, Marshall Hale, Robert Hale, and Raynel Hale; two sisters, Martha Parkhurst and Juanita Miller; stepchildren, Jeannie Blacker and Cindy (Terry) Johnson; brother-in-law, Jessie Miller, Raymon Miller, and Steve Kouns; sister-in-law, Dee Hale; son-in-law, Jeff Eads; and beloved pet of 12 years, Dusty Jo.

Funeral Services are planned for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of services. Interment will follow at K of P Cemetery in Lizton.

Memorials may be directed in her memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
