Monday at 2:46 pm, calls were received for a house fire at 1408 Ashley Drive. Companies from Lebanon, Center Township, and Whitestown Fire Departments responded as well as Boone County EMS, Lebanon Police Department and Lebanon Utilities. Crews quickly arrived on scene and were met with flames near the entry and throughout the attic of the house. The occupants were not in the residence at the time of the fire; however, a pet pig was trapped inside. LFD firefighter Spencer Gulley safely removed the pig from the residence. The fire was marked under control at 3:20 pm, but firefighters continued overhaul to extinguish hot spots and search for hidden flames until around 4:15 pm. One occupant, not in the residence at the time, was taken to Witham Hospital for further treatment. No firefighters, EMS or LPD officers were injured on the scene. The Salvation Army will be helping the family with temporary arrangements and 1-800-Board-Up was on scene to secure the house. The cause of the fire and amount of loss is currently under investigation. The neighboring home at 1414 Ashley Drive sustained heat damage to their siding. All units cleared the scene at 5:01 pm.
