Lola Ann Gamble, 82, passed away Monday, August 3, 2020, at Hoosier Village in Zionsville, Indiana. She was born in Champaign, Illinois on January 29, 1938; a daughter of the late Harold “Harry” and Gladys (Parsons) McElwee.

A longtime resident of Whitestown, Lola was a 1956 graduate of Whitestown High School.

On July 12, 1956, she was married to James “Jim” Gamble in Whitestown, Indiana; he survives, and they shared 64 loving years together.

She worked at Fort Harrison and also was a Clerk Treasurer of Whitestown.

Lola was a loving wife and devoted mother. She was an advocate for those with special needs and instrumental in the formation of The ARC of Greater Boone County, serving on both the board and as a past president. She was a faithful member of both Whitestown Baptist Church and Zionsville Fellowship Church. Lola was also an award-winning artist, loved music, traveling and taking Jimmy to Disney World during the Christmas season.

She leaves behind her husband, Jim Gamble of Zionsville and son, James “Jimmy” Andrew Gamble of Lebanon, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lola was preceded in death by siblings, Robert McElwee, Wilma Reece and Helen Young.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, Indiana.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Zionsville Fellowship.

Myers Mortuary in Lebanon, Indiana, is handling her arrangements.
