Mrs. Lucille Klar, 95, passed away on June 11, 2024, at her home in Lebanon, Indiana, surrounded by her loved ones. Lucy was born in Lafayette, Indiana, on January 29, 1929, a daughter of the late Edward Reiss and Cecelia Aleida (Smith) Reiss.
Lucy was a 1947 graduate from St Francis High School in Lafayette.
On January 28, 1950, she married John Edward Klar at St. Boniface Church in Lafayette, Indiana. He preceded her in death on November 25, 2012.
Lucy began working for the National Homes Corporation in 1950. She worked at the Boone County Clerk’s Office from 1963-1967. After leaving the Clerk’s Office she went to work as a secretary for the House Ways and Means Committee. In Indianapolis, Lucy was employed at Indiana Capital Corporation as a secretary-treasurer. She retired in 1974 to assist her husband at their family business, Klar Dental Lab.
Lucy was a dedicated member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she was a part of the Women’s Club and the Legion of Mary. Lucy was the Vice President of the Boone County Women’s Republican Club. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting sweaters, winning several blue ribbons in gardening and generously knitted baby hats for Witham Memorial Hospital. A cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, she will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her two children, Joseph Joe Klar of Lebanon and Jennifer (Rick) Ellis of Lebanon; three grandchildren, Joseph Lee Ellis of Lebanon, Kyle (Michelle) Ellis of Lebanon, and Lauren Ellis of Lebanon; great grandson, Jaxon Ottmar; and two brothers, Fred (Barbara) Reiss of South Carolina and Evan (Marilyn) Reiss of North Carolina.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lucy was preceded in death by her brother, Francis (Phyllis) Reiss and sister, Mary Ann (Richard) Trent.
Visitation is planned from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Myers Mortuary, in Lebanon, with The Rosary beginning at 3:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 319 East South Street, in Lebanon, Indiana, on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lebanon.
Memorials may be directed in her memory to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
