Mrs. Melda J. Fields, 102, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 at The Waters of Lebanon. She was born on August 29, 1918 in Smilax, Kentucky; a daughter of the late Jason and Annie (Vanover) Wells.

She graduated from Stinnett Settlement School in Kentucky. Following high school, she attended beauty school. She was united in marriage to Roy Fields in 1938. He preceded her in death.

In 1948, she and Roy moved to Lebanon. Melda was a loyal employee at The Knotty Pine restaurant in Lebanon for 46 years. She was a member of the Lebanon Church of Christ.

Melda loved her family dearly. She was a caring and loving lady who made her way through the joys and tribulations of 102 years.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Melda was preceded in death by nine siblings, Pearl, Grace, Hershel, Homer, Archie, Rosalie, Emma, James, and Georgia.

Funeral Services are planned for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon, in Lebanon, Indiana.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home in Lebanon. Visitors are asked to adhere to the current CDC guidelines that masks be worn and social distancing practiced.

Interment will follow services at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
