Mildred Lee (Demott) Dickerson, 94, passed away Dec. 17, 2019.

Millie was born May 18, 1925, to Clarence and Opal (Biddle) Demott. She was raised in Lebanon and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1942. On June 22, 1946, she eloped with her fiancé, James L. Dickerson, to Delphi where they were married by a pastor who was washing his car. They honeymooned at Ideal (Indiana) Beach.

Jim and Millie operated their business, Dickerson’s Fine Foods, where they traveled to fairs as concessionaires. In 1974, they moved from Lebanon to Monticello, IN where they spent many happy years on Lake Shafer. In the mid ‘90s they retired by buying a funnel cake stand and they both worked well into their 80s.

Millie was known for her sense of humor and she loved to make people smile.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters, a brother, and her beloved cat Tom. She is survived by her children, Steve (Marie) Dickerson of Fernandina Beach, FL, Betty (Jeff) Stover of Decatur, IN, and Cecelia (Don) Kenna of Lebanon, IN; grandchildren, Brent Dickerson, Nicole Stover, Amanda Spring, Brooke Ealing, Brittany Goon, Elizabeth Franklin, Dustin Kenna, and Macey Kenna; and great-grandchildren, Makenzie Summers, Aubree and Colton Franklin, Kamdyn and Lilly Ealing, and Zane Goon.

A celebration of Millie’s life will be held at a later date. Her family would like to extend their sincere gratitude towards the wonderful staff members at both Crown Pointe and Homewood for the care and love they showed Millie.
