Mrs. Mariam Evelyn Lenox, 93, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Indiana surrounded by her family. She was born March 4, 1926, in Kirklin, IN a daughter of the late Delbert Frank and Zona Vern (Myers) Wood.
On September 14, 1947, she was married to Dr. Jack L. Lenox in Lebanon, Indiana. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2007.
Mariam was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed her children and grandchildren dearly. Her absence will be noticeable for years to come. She provided unwavering humor and unprovoked life lessons. Her home was a sanctuary for many. Her presence eased many souls. She was the truest symbol of strength, peace and love. As she would say in trying times, “This too shall pass.”
Mariam had a special group of partners in crime through the years and they know who they are. She has outlived most of them but their fun and games live on in our memories.
Her memberships included Centenary United Methodist Church, Ulen Country Club and Ladies Medical Auxiliary.
Until we meet again…the Matriarch of our family.

Mariam also had many nieces and nephews who have been able to enjoy her company as the last member on each side of the Wood family and Lenox family.
We would like to thank Mother’s dear friend and helper, Tonia Fortner. She has been our Mother’s hands and feet for nearly 13 years since our Father passed. Mother was able to live in her home as she wanted to and be surrounded by family and visitors while also reliving her fond memories of her life with her beloved husband, Jack. This would never be possible without the loving kindness of our dear Tonia. We are deeply grateful to her loving spirit.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mariam was preceded in death by her siblings, Frank Wood, Jr., Wendell D. Wood, Mildred E. “Mid” Messenger,Marjorie E. Davis and Margaret Tribbett; and son-in-law, Ted Quick.
