On Saturday, March 9, 2024, at approximately 8:40 a.m., Deputy Nick Light attempted to stop a silver 2011 Kia sedan with front end damage traveling northbound on State Road 39 in Antioch, at a high rate of speed. The vehicle pulled off on Antioch Road where it initially came to a stop.
As Deputy Light attempted to make contact with the driver, the vehicle made a u-turn, driving through a yard to get back onto State Road 39. The vehicle continued northbound on State Road 39 where it would eventually go west on State Road 28 (Walnut Street). Officers made several attempts to deploy stop sticks in an effort to stop the vehicle. The vehicle traveled northbound on Interstate 65 where it was involved in two property damage crashes. Officers, again, made an attempt to deploy stop sticks.
Due to the damage sustained to the Kia, the driver was unable to continue and came to a stop near the 181 mile-marker in Tippecanoe County.
