(Los Angeles, CA)  —  The best team in baseball is adding a big arm for the stretch run.  The Dodgers acquired starting pitcher Yu [[ Yoo ]] Darvish from the Rangers before baseball’s non-waiver trade deadline on Monday.  LA also picked up relievers Tony Watson from Pittsburgh and Tony Cingrani from Cincinnati.

(Bronx, NY)  —  The Yankees are bolstering their rotation for a playoff push.  New York acquired starting pitcher Sonny Gray from the A’s in exchange for three prospects.  The 27-year-old Gray is 6-and-5 with a 3.43 ERA in 16 starts this season.  He won’t be eligible for free agency until 2020.

>>Gonzalez Flirts With No-No As Nats Blank Marlins

(Miami, FL)  —  Gio Gonzalez took a no-hitter into the ninth inning as the Nationals blanked the Marlins 1-0 in Miami.  Dee Gordon led off the ninth with a single to break up the bid.  Gonzalez improved to 9-and-5 after tossing eight-plus innings of one-hit ball.  Miami’s Edinson Volquez has the only no-hitter in the majors this season.

>>Cubs Give Bartman World Series Ring

(Chicago, IL)  —  The man blamed by many Cubs fans for preventing the team from getting to the 2003 World Series is getting a very special gift.  The Cubs are giving Steve Bartman a 2016 World Series championship ring.  Bartman infamously interfered with a foul ball in Game Six of the 2003 NLCS, causing most fans to blame him for the Cubs’ eventual series loss.

(Los Angeles, CA)  —  The Olympics are returning to the United States.  The Summer Games in 2028 will take place in Los Angeles.  It will be the third Olympics that LA has hosted.  The Summer Games have not been held in the U.S. since Atlanta hosted them in 1996.
