(Undated)  —  The blockbuster trade between the Cavaliers and Celtics is complete.  Boston is adding a 2020 second-round pick to a package that includes Isaiah Thomas, Ante Zizic [[ ZIH-zitch ]] and the Nets’ 2018 first-round selection in exchange for Kyrie Irving.  The 2020 pick was added after Cleveland expressed concerns over Thomas’ hip injury.

>>Former Villanova Coach Massimino Dies

(Undated)  —  The college basketball world is mourning the loss of legendary Villanova head coach Rollie Massimino.  He died Wednesday at the age of 82.  Massimino, who was battling lung cancer, led ‘Nova to an improbable national championship in 1985.  The eighth-seeded Wildcats stunned top-seeded Georgetown for their first-ever title.

>>Texans-Cowboys Preseason Game Canceled

(Arlington, TX)  —  The preseason game between the Texans and Cowboys is being cancelled in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.  The game was originally scheduled to be played in Houston before being moved to Arlington earlier this week.  The decision to cancel the game altogether was made so the Texans could help with recovery efforts.

>>Cubs Pummel Pirates To Complete Sweep

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Cubs finished off a three-game sweep of the Pirates with a 17-3 drubbing at Wrigley Field.  Kyle Schwarber hit two, two-run homers, and Ian Happ added one of his own plus four RBI.  The Cubs are three-and-a-half games clear of the Brewers first place in the NL Central.

(Phoenix, AZ)  —  The best team in baseball is enduring its longest losing streak of the season.  Paul Goldschmidt hit a two-run homer as the Diamondbacks dropped the Dodgers 6-4 in Arizona.  LA has lost a season-high four straight.  Arizona has reeled off six wins in-a-row, but is still 17 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West.
