(Los Angeles, CA)  —  Diamondbacks outfielder J.D. Martinez is now part of some exclusive company.  He slugged four home runs off four different Dodgers’ pitchers in Arizona’s 13-0 win over the Diamondbacks in LA.  Martinez is only the 18th player in MLB history to homer four times in one game.  No player has ever hit five home runs in a single contest.

(Miami, FL)  —  Marlins slugger Giancarlo [[ zjohn-CAR-lo ]] Stanton is adding to his major league-leading home run total.  He launched his 53rd homer of the season in the Marlins’ 7-2 loss to the Nationals in Miami.  Stanton’s latest shot struck and dented a television camera just over the wall in right field.

(Atlanta, GA)  —  Number-24 Tennessee survives a scare in its first game of the season.  The Volunteers rallied from a 28-14 deficit in the fourth quarter and pulled out a 42-41, double-overtime win over Georgia Tech.  The Vols stopped the Yellow Jackets on a two-point conversion attempt on the game’s final play to seal the victory.

(Pittsburgh, PA)  —  Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell is officially under contract after holding out the entire preseason.  Bell signed his one-year franchise tender worth 12.12-million-dollars on Monday.  The 25-year-old Bell ran for 1,268 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games last season.

(Norton, MA)  —  Justin Thomas is celebrating his fifth win of the season.  Thomas erased a two-shot deficit over the final nine holes to win the Dell Technologies Championship at TPC Boston.  Thomas finished 17-under-par for the title.  Jordan Spieth [[ Speeth ]] ended alone in second place at 14-under.  Marc Leishman came in at 13-under.
