>>Altuve Hits Three Homers As Astros Bomb Red Sox

(Houston, TX)  —  Jose Altuve [[ al-TOO-vay ]] hit three solo homers as the Astros ripped the Red Sox 8-2 in Game One of their AL Division Series in Houston.  Justin Verlander tossed six innings of two-run ball to get the win in the opener of the best-of-five set.  Chris Sale allowed seven runs in five-plus innings to take the loss.  Game Two is today.

>>Indians Shut Out Yankees In ALDS G1

(Cleveland, OH)  —  Trevor Bauer [[ BOW-er ]] combined with two relievers on a three-hitter as the Indians shut out the Yankees 4-0 in Game One of their American League Division Series in Cleveland.  Jay Bruce hit a two-run homer and drove in three to help the Tribe take the opener of the best-of-five series.  Sonny Gray took the loss.  Game Two is tonight.

>>Pats Hold Off Buccaneers

(Tampa, FL)  —  The Patriots held off the Buccaneers 19-14 on “Thursday Night Football” in Tampa.  Tom Brady threw for 303 yards and a touchdown as New England improved to 3-and-2.  Tampa Bay kicker Nick Folk missed three field goals as the Bucs fell to 2-and-2.

>>Dannon Fires Cam Newton

(White Plains, NY)  —  Dannon is cutting ties with Cam Newton after the Panthers quarterback appeared to belittle a female reporter.  Dannon says that they perceive Newton’s comments “as sexist and disparaging to all women.”  Newton had served as a spokesperson for Dannon and appeared in several TV ads.

(Boston, MA)  —  The Las Vegas shooter looked into hotel rooms near other large events in Boston and Chicago, according to investigators.  Senior law enforcement officials in Boston say Stephen Paddock looked into hotel rooms near Fenway Park, the home of the Red Sox, earlier this year.
