>>USMNT Edges Jamaica In Gold Cup Final

(Santa Clara, CA)  —  The U.S. men’s national team is celebrating a Gold Cup championship.  Jordan Morris scored in the 88th minute to give Team USA a 2-1 win over Jamaica in the Gold Cup final last night.  It’s the sixth time the U.S. has captured the title in the tournament.

>>Cavs’ Gilbert Addresses Irving Rumors

(Cleveland, OH)  —  Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert says Kyrie Irving’s reported trade request is a “fluid” situation.  Gilbert did not confirm Irving asked to be dealt and didn’t say if the team plans on doing so.  Irving has three years left on his contract, but can opt out after the second season.

>>Cubs Back In First After Win Over White Sox

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Cubs are back in first place in the NL Central.  Chicago moved into the top spot following an 8-3 win over the rival White Sox.  Anthony Rizzo had three hits and four RBI for the Cubs, who are now a half-game ahead of the Brewers.  Chicago is 10-and-2 since the All-Star break.

>>Rockies Get Neshek From Phillies

(Denver, CO)  —  The Rockies are bolstering their bullpen for the stretch run.  Colorado has acquired All-Star reliever Pat Neshek from the Phillies in exchange for three minor leaguers.  Neshek is 3-and-2 with a 1.12 ERA this season.  He’s struck out 45 in 40-and-a-third innings.  Colorado is currently in control of the NL’s second wild card.

>>Jets Claim Whitehead Off Waivers

(Florham Park, NJ)  —  Lucky Whitehead is going from “Big D” to the “Big Apple.”  The Jets claimed the wide receiver off waivers from the Cowboys yesterday.  Dallas released Whitehead after he had been accused of shoplifting.  He was later cleared by police after it was determined his identity was stolen.
