Rev. Floyd C. Coon, Jr., 78, of Lebanon, passed away June 28, 2020, in his home surrounded by family.

Floyd was born Aug. 22, 1941, in Grand Rapids, MI, a son of the late Floyd C. Coon, Sr. and Lucille (Challander) Coon. He married Sharon Kay Hasting on Sept. 21, 1963, and she passed away on Oct. 20, 2006. He was then married to Judy Coon on July 3, 2009. She survives.

Floyd served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He moved to Indiana in the early 1980’s. He received his Divinity degree from Grace Theological Seminary on Dec. 17, 1987. He preached in several churches, with his last being the Pleasant View Church in Lebanon, IN. Floyd also worked for JB Hunt, Kroger Egg, and Coon’s Service in Lebanon.

Floyd and Judy spent winters in Lake Wales, FL, enjoying rides on his Harley trike bike and was a former member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. He could also be spotted driving around town in his 1920 Model T truck. Floyd volunteered at Witham Hospital, was a member of the First Baptist Church, and spent many hours in his home garden. He enjoyed golfing with his kids and Judy driving the cart and keeping score.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Coon; children, Daniel (Jeanette) Coon, Floyd (Masami) Coon, III, and Tonja (Chad) Padgett; step-son, Mark (Donna) Thompkins; grandchildren, Danielle (Nick) Stickel, Amanda Brewer, Faith (fiancé, Jarett Watts) Padgett, and Gabriel and Nathanael Padgett; step-grandchildren, Stephanie and Lauren Wilson; nine great-grandchildren; and siblings, Velma (Len) VanderJack, Gerald (Debbie) Coon, and Marilyn (Terry) Anderson. In addition to his parents and first wife, Floyd was preceded in death by his grandson, Joseph Coon and step-son, Kevin Thompkins.

Family and friends will gather Wed., July 1, 2020 for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and the funeral service will be held on Thurs., July 2, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N.
