Richard Eugene Watkins, 71, of Whitestown, Indiana, passed away on December 15, 2019, at his home. He was born on November 20, 1948 in Spelter, West Virginia; a son of the late Robert Watkins and Edna Norris
Richard attended high school in West Virginia. Following school, he served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and earned his high school diploma during his service in the military.
On November 1997, he was married to Kinisha (Harwood) Watkins in Noblesville, Indiana; she survives.
Richard worked for the Railroad and later Firestone in Noblesville; retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the Lebanon VFW and Noblesville American Legion. He enjoyed socializing with neighbors and friends, camping, fishing and hiking. He also had a love for nature by feeding and watching birds and squirrels from his porch and living room window.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a son, Nathan Watkins and several siblings.
Visitation is planned from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street in Lebanon.
Funeral Services with Military Rites will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 19 at the funeral home in Lebanon.
Boone County Crematory has been entrusted with his cremation arrangements.
