Boone County Prosecutor Todd Meyer filed for the appointment of a special prosecutor in the alleged drunk driving case of Zionsville Town Council President Elizabeth Hopper. In the request to Boone County Superior Court II Judge Bruce Petit, Meyer cited the appearance of conflict of interest with the prosecuting attorney as the reason for recusing himself and the prosecutor’s office from the case. “Through course of my career I’ve gotten to know (Hopper) and she of course sits on the Zionsville Town Council,” Meyer said. “And from time to time my office interacts with the town council. “Her husband is a lawyer, and I’m also familiar with him. I wanted to eliminate the thought of any impropriety.”
