Your child’s textbooks are covered by the state this school year. The state is using 160-million-dollars to pay for students textbooks this year. But, advocates for the initiative like Marylin Shank with the Indiana Coaltion for Public Education, say they are hoping that funding is enough to cover all students in Indiana. She says if that funding comes up short then schools would be left on the hook by having to redirect money from operating costs and salaries to make up the difference. She says they plan to collect data to see if the state will need to approve more funding in the future.
