The Thorntown Town Council is planning a spring clean-up event on May 15 and volunteers are needed to help. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. – rain or shine – at Thorntown Towing & Recovery, 302 W. Church St. Residential waste will be accepted, including washers, dryers and stoves. No construction debris, shingles, boats, tires, televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners, microwaves, oil or free liquids will be accepted. Brush and lumber with nails and screws removed may be taken to the town pond. This is for Thorntown residents only and a utility receipt and photo identification will be required. Participants will need to help unload their trash into the dumpsters provided, so things should be bagged and boxed accordingly. To volunteer to help, call 436-8132.
