Police arrested Zionsville Town Council President Elizabeth Hopper early Monday evening on alleged drunk driving charges.
Court documents said a Zionsville officer pulled over a chrome-colored 2016 Subaru after witnessing the car “drive over the sidewalk, and curb” as it turned west on Hunt Club Road from south Ford Road. The officer said they could smell alcohol and that Hopper’s speech was slurred, according to the probable cause affidavit.
After a series of field sobriety tests, Hopper submitted to a portable breath test. Court document said the results came back at a .19 blood alcohol content. According to the probable cause affidavit, Hopper repeatedly asked officers if they could take her home or if she could call ZPD Chief Rob Knox. Officers denied those requests.
