Coming into Wednesday’s Boone County Tournament, Zionsville head girls golf coach Jeff Anderson was hoping that his team would be able to shoot in the 130s and break the schoolrecord for nine holes.
His team was able to deliver on that hope. The top-ranked Eagles shot a 6-under 134 as a team, setting the nine-hole school record by eight shots and remained the only ever Boone County champion since the tournament started in 2010. Western Boone was second with a 186 and Lebanon placed third with a 196. Abby Thielbar was the individual county champion, shooting a 3-under 32 for her round. Western Boone’s Lily Williamson tied the nine-hole school record with a 38 to lead the Stars. Three girls tied for the top spot on Lebanon, with Kate Mayner, Katherine Patterson and Ella Taylor all shooting 48s.
