Members of the community can help make winter a little warmer and assist United States veterans in the Indianapolis area that are homeless or at-risk of homelessness by donating money and requested items to the Hope for Heroes Project.

Hope for Heroes is coordinated by the Gamma Pi Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA). All donations received benefit veterans receiving services from Hoosier Veterans Assistance Foundation (HVAF). The collection runs through Dec. 18, and local collection sites include Akard True-Value Hardware in the Boone Village Shopping Center in Zionsville, and the Hussey-Mayfield Public Library, 250 N. Fifth St., Zionsville.

All donated items should be new. Requested items include jeans in all sizes, boxer shorts in sizes large to 2XL, white and black crew socks, work gloves, heavy gloves, athletic shoes in sizes 10-13, and hats; and personal care items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, shaving supplies, and travel sized lotion.
