Bonita Arlene “Bonnie” Day, 83, entered the heavenly gates Friday, November 11, 2022, at her home in Whitestown, Indiana. She was born in Bloomington, Illinois on September 13, 1939, a daughter of the late Weldon Lanham and Alice (Chestnut) Lanham.

Bonnie moved to Indianapolis, Indiana with her parents as a child and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. She later moved to Lebanon, Indiana in 1973 where she lived until moving to Whitestown, Indiana.

She graduated from the Indiana Police Academy February 10, 1969 and served the great city of Indianapolis for 30 years before retiring. Bonnie spent most of her time raising her two granddaughters. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She leaves behind two sons, Greg Day of Texas and Dean Day (Tammy Toney) of Lebanon; seven grandkids, Aaron (Tish) Day of Texas, Bethany (James) Ridge of Florida, Ashley (Jimmy) Lawson of Plainfield, Caleb (Joni) Day of Arkansas, Brittany Day (Steve Port) of Whitestown, Meagan Day (Bradley Welsh) of Texas and Zachary (Kristin) Day; in addition she leaves behind daughter in-law Cindy (John) Cook; and 11 great grandchildren Patryk Cook, Skyann Port, Gracie Port, Makayla Day, Aubrey Day, Austin Day, JJ Ridge, Avery Lawson, Kenzie Port, Braxton Day, Briggs Day and Jiselle Ridge.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce (Lanham) Doty and brother, Robert Lanham.

A celebration of life/memorial will be held in the late spring early summer as her favorite thing to do was sit outside in the heat.

Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with her cremation arrangements.
