An energized electorate crowded the voting centers throughout Boone County Tuesday and elected a full slate of Republicans to courthouse level offices. County Clerk Jessica Fouts said 56.42 percent of Boone County’s registered voters cast ballots in what was the largest voter turnout for an off-year election in recent memory. In all, 27,789 voters participated in the election that decided a hotly contested race for Boone Circuit Court judge, a county commissioner position and two county council seats.
