The Boone County Senior Salute (BCSS) will honor 2024 Boone County Indiana high school graduates who have chosen to serve their country at the 4th Annual Senior Salute on Monday, May 13, 6:00-8:00 PM at the American Legion Post 79 in Zionsville.
“Our mission is to bring to light and recognize the courage and commitment of high school graduates in Boone County Indiana who have decided to serve our country post graduation” says Matt Weinheimer, Board Chair of BCSS and US Navy veteran. Dr. Weinheimer was inspired by a similar program started years ago in his hometown of Sullivan, Indiana. Weinheimer, started this organization along with Dr. Jim Haines, founder Zionsville Eyecare and also a US Navy veteran.
Dr. Haines adds, “These young adults have raised their hand and said, ‘I am prepared to give my life for the country’. “Students who later become accomplished in their careers, such doctors, lawyers and engineers are celebrated, yet military members who have stepped up to serve often are not ”.
Any Boone County Indiana high school senior graduating this year and enlisting in the military, joining a ROTC program or attending a service academy who are interested to be honored can contact Weinheimer at bcseniorsalute@gmail.com. Deadline for submission is May 6, 2024.
The event is open to the public, includes dinner and $25 tickets are available now at the Zionsville Legion, Zionsville Eyecare or online at 2024seniorsalute.eventbrite.com . NOTE: Honorees, their immediate families and grandparents are welcome at no charge.
