30,723 days was not enough for Carl E. Stewart to be here with those who loved him, but on January 7, 2023 he took his last breath and went to be with the Lord. He was born on November 26, 1938 to Opel (Williams) and Carl Stewart Sr. in Paris, Illinois, and their family moved to Zionsville, Indiana in 1940. Carl lived most of his life in Zionsville and then moved to Lebanon, Indiana in 1979.
He married the love of his life Beverly Klingler on December 28, 1979 and they recently celebrated 43 years of marriage. Combined they have six children and whenever they all would go out to eat or on vacations together, people would always say they looked like the Brady Bunch, three girls and three boys.
Carl was a great auto mechanic and worked as Service Manager at Pearson Ford in Zionsville for 20 years. He then worked at Speedway Volkswagen in Indianapolis as Service Operation Manager and Co-Owner of Speedway Mazda, retiring in 1988. In 1989, he and his son, Joe, started the family business of Stewart Metal Products, which he was still active with.
Carl was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved being out on his boat or deep in the woods during hunting season. He enjoyed playing golf and was a lifelong member of Ulen Country Club, where he had served on their Board of Directors.
Carl enjoyed the many trips with his graduating classmates over the years, where they would meet in a different states every other year. He and Beverly enjoyed playing cards with their close friends over the years.
Carl loved riding on his John Deere mower and his neighbors knew him by seeing him wave and smile to them while riding on it. He took great pride in having a beautiful lawn.
One of Carl’s favorite things in life was spending time with Beverly, his family, and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: daughter, Jackie Klingler and fiancé, Wayne Brown of Danville, son, Carl Thomas Stewart and daughter-in-law, Vicki of Zionsville, daughter, Teresa Oldham and son-in-law, Chris of Lebanon, son, Joe Stewart and daughter-in-law, Kristina of Zionsville, son, Joe Klingler and daughter-in-law, Pam of Lebanon, and daughter, Connie Stewart and fiancé, Bob of Arcadia; grandchildren: Donnie Klingler and wife, Jasmine, Haley Sauers and husband, Ben, Felicia Stewart and fiancé, Seth, Samantha Stewart, Vanessa Stewart, Nathan Beard and wife, Mary, Mandy Haberlin and wife, Faith, Danny Haberlin and wife, Alicia, Elizabeth Hahn and fiancé, Randy, Victoria Hahn, and Brian Hahn; and seven great grandchildren.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Caroline Jean and Suzanne.
Family and friends will gather in remembrance of Carl in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon, on Wednesday, January 11, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service starting at 1 p.m. Personal messages for the family may be left at www.strawmyerdrury.com.
