Mr. Charles Acton, 92, of Dover, passed away Dec. 16, 2020, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon.

Charlie was born on Sep. 15, 1928, in Boone County, the son of the now late Victor Bruer Acton and Mae F. Peabody Acton.

Charlie graduated from Pinnell High School and went on to serve in the US Navy. He worked as a cabinet maker. Charlie was a member of the American Legion Post 113, the VFW, and the Boone County Murat Shrine. He was also a member of the Thorntown Christian Church and attended the Shannondale Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Huetta “Tootsie” Acton of Dover; sons, Paul (Patty) Acton of Florida, Charles Robert (Cathy) Acton, Jr. of Thorntown, Michael Jordan of Indianapolis, and Robert (Kelly) Barrett of Troy, IL; daughters, Melody (Bill) Cragen of Greenwood, Sharon (Rusty) Dennis of Lebanon, Peggy (Jerry) Beck of Advance, and Sherry (Randy) Jones of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Jeremy (Desiree) Acton, Jennifer (Rob) Abbott, Kyle and Cody McCammack, Zachary (Laura) and Lucas Barrett, Carrie and Michael Cragen, Christopher Beck, Kendra and Craig (Bailey) Dennis, Christy (Bob) Chapman, Julia Johnson, and Sonya (Rob) Evans; great-grandchildren, Aries, Emalee, Aleena, Emberlynn, Bryce, Addisen, Krystain, Kaleb, Paxton, Griffin, Elisha, Levi, Mitchell, Alton, Madeline, Lucas, and Lucy; a sister, Irene Urban of Lebanon, a sister-in-law Jean Acton of Lebanon; along with several nieces and nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children, Norma Craig Acton; brothers, Harold Acton and James Acton; brother-in-law, George Urban; and great-grandson, Rhiley Acton.

Family and friends will gather Saturday, May 22, 2021 for a celebration of life from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
