Charles M. “Bud” Butner, 83, passed away Monday morning, Aug. 5, 2019 in Pinellas Co., FL. He was born July 24, 1936 in Lebanon, IN., son of the late Charles and Mary (Neal) Butner. Mary was later remarried to Charles Wallace.
On March 10, 1954 Charles married his high school sweetheart, Marcia (Peabody) Butner in Lebanon.
A native of Boone County, Bud was raised and educated in Lebanon. He proudly served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1962. First stationed in London, England then subsequently stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Cascade County, MT.
Returning to Lebanon after serving his country, Bud worked at Shumate’s and Commercial Filters in Lebanon prior to accepting a sales position for Charles Wallace of Wallace Filters, Inc., Lebanon, IN. Upon retirement, he and his bride purchased a home in Florida, escaping the winter months of Indiana. The Butners recently acquired a second home, back in Lebanon, so they could spend their summers closer to family and old friends.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia (Peabody) Butner; children: David (Beth) Butner; Doug (Bonnie) Butner; Pam Costello; grandchildren: Nicole (Jonathan) Chambers, Ryan (Meg) Butner, Kyle Butner, Denise Ellis, Zach Butner, and Karl Costello; great-grandchildren: Mia Chambers, Aiden & Austin Ellis, Kinley and Kate Butner; In-laws: Steve & Mary Jane Peabody who were there in person for Marcia in her time of need; a sister, Nancy (Alan) Swisher and step-sister, Peggy (Blitz) Wallace.
Services with military rites are planned for Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019 from 11:00-1:00 P.M. at Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary. 2400 N Lebanon St, Lebanon, IN 46052.
