The Boone County Council has voted to funnel $1.5 million of funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to Thorntown to expand the wastewater treatment lagoon. The Indiana Department of Environmental Management had stopped all new sewer hookups in the northwestern Boone County community because the treatment plant was at capacity. Last month, Thorntown asked for $2 million for the project from the $13 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds estimated to be given to the county. Thorntown was under a ban for any sewer hookups by IDEM until the project is completed by next year. More details in the Lebanon Reporter.
