Daniel “Dan” Talbert, Sr., 71, of Monticello, passed away September 13, 2019, at the Eskenazi Burn Center in Indianapolis.

Dan was born May 28, 1948, in Beech Grove, a son of the late Joseph Robert Talbert, Sr. and Mildred Martha (Wright) Talbert. He married Anna Bell on July 03, 1969, in Indianapolis, and they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.

Dan graduated from George Washington High School in Indianapolis. He then went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Marine Corps., during the Vietnam War. Dan also served for 11 years in the National Guard.

Dan’s family was especially important to him and he loved to spend time with them at any number of family gatherings, big or small. He also enjoyed fishing and playing around on Lake Freeman.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Talbert of Monticello; children, Daniel Talbert, II (Jennifer) of Monticello, Regina Marx (Steve Gionet) of Monticello, and Jennifer Gearlds (Kurt) of Beech Grove; siblings, Mary Frances Wild of Monticello, Martha Jean Corman of FL, and Geneva R. Boyce (Dale R.) of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Anita Talbert of Lebanon; grandchildren, Tara Schutter (Austin), Austin, Joshua, MaKinzie, and Jesse Marx, and Kurt, Jr., Allison, and Carlee Gearlds; and several, nieces and nephews, and great- nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Robert Talbert, Jr., brother-in-law, Larry T. Corman, and infant nephew, Joseph Robert Talbert, IV.

Family and friends will gather Sunday, September 15, 2019 for visitation from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and funeral services will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. with Bruce Hankins officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Dan will be laid to rest at Plainview Cemetery in Colfax.
