Mrs. Darlene Lee Chatman passed away early Sunday morning, October 8, 2023, at her home in Lebanon, Indiana. She was 82. Born October 26, 1940 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late George Earl and Elizabeth May (White) Rutledge.
On November 7, 1959, she was united in marriage to Samuel Evert Chatman in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2006.
Darlene was a 1958 graduate of Manuel High School in Indianapolis. In 1970, she moved to Lebanon. She worked at Witham Memorial Hospital for several years in housekeeping. Darlene retired in 2018.
She loved her family dearly. Darlene enjoyed the simple things in life including her morning cup of coffee, watching Dirty Dancing, and perusing social media.
Survivors include six children, Samuel D. (Susan) Chatman of Evansville, Jeffrey L. (Stacy) Chatman of Lebanon, Denise L. (Shelby) Pramley of Cutler, Daniel E. (Hope) Chatman of Avon, Kimberly S. (Jeff) Rodgers of Lebanon, and Raymon’ S. (Becky) Chatman of Lafayette; son-in-law, Dominick Strafaci of Whitestown; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; brother, Larry Rutledge of Muncie; and a sister, Jackie Frye of Lebanon.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Darlene was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Chatman, and a great grandchild.
