Mr. David Schortinghuis, 86, of Zionsville, passed away May 5, 2020, at Hearth At Tudor Gardens.
Dave was born Sept. 6, 1933 in Holland, MI a son of the late Rev. John and Marie (Michmershuizen) Schortinghuis. He married Janice Vahlkamp on July 3, 1955. She survives.
Dave served in the U.S. Army and was an assistant to the Chaplain during the Korean War. He was a financial manager at Eli Lilly for over 30 years.
Over the years, Dave was involved with several reformed Christian churches where he participated as an Elder and a Deacon. He also sang in the church choir and was on different bowling leagues. He enjoyed doing volunteer work and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Janice; children, Sharon (Daniel) Amonett of Murfreesboro, TN, Diane (Timothy) Mills of Indianapolis and Carol (Frank) Jensen of Lebanon; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a sister, Esther Bakker of Iowa.
Family and friends will gather Saturday, June 6, 2020 for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Dave will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
