A weather balloon’s instrument package fell to earth somewhere near Thorntown Thursday, and researchers at DePauw University are asking for the public’s help in finding the package.
The instruments were being used for research into radiation in the upper stratosphere, DePauw student Zach Wilkerson said Friday in an email. He is working with Dr. Howard Brooks, a professor of physics and astronomy.
The package is likely in the area bounded by CR 1100 W, CR 800 N, CR 950 W and CR 550 N, Wilkerson said. More details is available in the Lebanon Reporter.
