On Thursday, April 9 at 6 p.m., Zionsville neighbors are encouraged to spend an evening on their own porch, order a meal and favorite beverage from Zionsville’s great range of restaurants and play family-friendly music as part of the Porch Party Zville event. At 7 p.m., neighbors can stand outside on their front porch, balcony or near a window and join in a collective “Clap for Our Carers” – a thunder of gratitude for those working on the frontline of the fight against Coronavirus.

Local Zionsville resident Keith Burton proposed the idea of Porch Party Zville to create a safe space for neighbors to
shelter-in-place and connect to a central cause while maintaining social distancing. Porch partiers can share photos and videos using hashtags: #PorchPartyZville, #ClapForOurCarers and #StayIN.

“During this time, it’s more important than ever we look out for each other and support our local businesses,” said Burton. “Zionsville is blessed to have many pretty porches and my wife Sarah and I love to spend time on ours and chat to neighbors. It struck us this is a great way to social distance and still connect with the community. We really are all in this together.”

To prepare local restaurants for delivery and carry-out orders, neighbors should place orders in advance of the event start time.
