Mrs. Doris Pauline Smith, 94, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Compassus Hospice in Indianapolis. She was born in Boone County, Indiana on May 12, 1928, a daughter of the late Earl J. and Clara Eldora (Anderson) Wills.

On June 11, 1948, she was united in marriage to Wilbur Eugene “Jack” Smith in Lebanon. He passed away on February 14, 1999.

A life resident of Boone County, Mrs. Smith was a 1946 graduate of Lebanon High School. She had worked for a short time at Scott’s 5 & 10 store before raising her children and taking care of their home.

She was a faithful member of Pleasant View Church west of Lebanon where she was active with the ladies’ fellowship and played music during special occasions. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.

Doris loved her family dearly and took great pride in each of them. Music being a big part of her life, she loved playing at church and with the LG Smith Band where they performed mainly in Lafayette and Monticello.

Survivors include her two daughters, Brenda J. Woodruff of Lebanon and Paula J. Birge of Knightstown; three grandchildren, Chris (Amber) Woodruff of Lebanon, Tasha (Matt) Craft of Knightstown, and Tracy Westmoreland of Thorntown; seven great grandchildren, Shelby Woodruff, Brandon Woodruff, Matthew Craft, Emilee Craft, Karrie Lyons, Kyler Stauffer, and Victoria Elder; four great great grandchildren,Carly, Ari, Emberleigh, and Bryndley; brother, Robert W. (Virginia) Wills of Thorntown; sister, Helen L. (Jahn) Lawson of Clearwater, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Doris was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Brad Birge; and a great grandson, Bradon Westmoreland.

Visitation is planned from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at the funeral home, with Pastor JR Rouse, officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
