Duane Lee Johnson, 54, of Thorntown, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on Thursday, December 15, 1966 to Rebecca (Strong) Mink Harder and the late Virgil Mink, Jr., who raised and loved him.

He was a lifelong resident of Boone County and graduated from Western Boone Jr/Sr. High School in 1985. Following high school, he worked at the Blue and White Truck Stop in Pittsboro. Duane became disabled as a result of a car accident in 1999, but he did not let that stop him from living his life to the fullest.

Duane was a beloved son, husband, uncle, brother, friend, and lover of animals. He was the secretary and active member of the County Line Fishing Club. His hobbies included fishing, crafts, playing on the computer, watching Golden Girls, cookouts with his family, watching his nieces and nephews grow up and spending time with his beloved dog, Kaci Jo and cats, Meanie, Shadow, and Luna.

Survivors include his mother, Rebecca Harder of Thorntown; husband, Marty Potthoff of Thorntown; sisters, Amanda Woodard of Thorntown, Virginia (Truby) Isaac of Fowlerton; nephew, Bobby Stoner–Johnson of Thorntown;
great nephews, Phillip and Keagan Isaac; great niece, Brookalynne Isaac of Fowlerton.

In addition to his father, Duane was preceded in death by a sister, Janice M. Johnson; and grandparents, Donald and Beverly Strong and Alex and Marie Johnson.

No services will be held. Myers & Hunt Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with his arrangements.
